Jinja
Adventure capital at the source of the Nile
Two hours east of Kampala, Jinja sits where the Nile begins its journey from Lake Victoria. The town is East Africa's adventure hub — white-water rafting on world-class rapids, quad biking, bungee jumping, kayaking and horseback rides along the river.
Softer pleasures are here too: sunset boat trips to the exact source of the Nile, craft markets and riverside cafés. Jinja works as a day trip, but stays nicer for a night or two.
