Kabale & Lake Bunyonyi
Uganda's most beautiful lake, dotted with islands
High in the Kigezi highlands, Lake Bunyonyi is one of Africa's deepest lakes, its waters peppered with 29 green islands and terraced hills. With no hippos or crocodiles, it is one of the few large lakes in Uganda safe for swimming and canoeing.
It's the place travellers go to rest before or after gorilla trekking — cold-water swims, dugout canoeing, birding and island-hopping at 2,000 metres.
