Crater lakes, tea plantations and views of the Rwenzoris
Fort Portal is the green heart of western Uganda, set among dozens of volcanic crater lakes and tea estates, with the Rwenzori Mountains on the horizon. It is the perfect base for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale and the Amabere Caves.
The town is also the gateway to Semuliki National Park and the Rwenzori foothills, making it a natural stop between Kampala and Queen Elizabeth.
