Lake Mburo National Park

Zebras, lakes and walking safaris close to Kampala

All national parks

Location

Central-western Uganda, along the Kampala–Mbarara road

Size

Uganda's smallest savannah park (about 260 km²)

Lake Mburo is the closest savannah park to Kampala, which makes it perfect for short trips and as a break on longer journeys to the west. Its rolling hills, acacia woodland and five lakes are home to zebras, impala, eland, giraffes, leopards and rich birdlife.

Uniquely in Uganda, walking safaris and horseback rides are possible here — exploring on foot among zebras and impala is an experience few parks in Africa offer.
